Bethel Children’s Ministry (BCM) seeks to provide a holistic Christian education programme to reach out and nurture children to know more about God. During praise and worship in the services, the children are taught how to be true worshippers – worshipping God in spirit and in truth. In addition, the seeds of truth are sown in their lives as they are taught the word of God to deepen their Biblical knowledge. Through the time of sharing, the children are challenged to live a life that God desires for them. Their relationship with the Sunday school teachers is established and nurtured in the cell group sessions. The teachers encourage the children to do their daily devotion by acknowledging their written devotional thoughts. They also bond with the children through interaction and games.
Apart from caring for the children within Bethel, BCM also reaches out to pre-believing children in the community through various forms of outreach. Camps are organised for both the children in BCM and those in the community. For two years, BCM has been working with Bethel Community Services (BCS) with the aim of sharing the gospel to pre-believing children during the June holidays community camp.
The events that BCM has been involved in over the past few years include performing for Celebrate Christmas in Singapore (CCIS), Family day, Mothers’ day, Christmas Services and Watch-night Services. In 2008, BCM also staged a Christmas musical with the aim of bringing the true meaning of Christmas to the audience, who were mostly pre-believers living in the community at Geylang East Central.
Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go and, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Bearing this in mind, BCM is committed to sow Biblical truth and cultivate a godly lifestyle in the children so that they will grow up in the fear of the Lord and love Him wholeheartedly.
